Building your own home is a great way to get the house that you want. You can select your own building site, draw up a custom floor plan and select your own building materials. Best of all, you get the home you want for a fraction of the price of a new or pre-existing home.  Building my own home has allowed me to own a custom built home with all the features I wanted with a mortgage payment less than the rent for a one bedroom apartment.
